Our Featured Photographer of the month for July is Kate Buechner from über photography.   Kate runs her very successful portrait studio with her husband Chris and her world revolves her 3 kids Felix, Max and Millie and her fur babies Immy and Sarah. When she’s not working she loves checking out cafes to fuel her love of great coffee!

Kate has been a photographer over 16 years and is passionate about photographing families. She loves capturing the personalities of kids through her photographs. Her ability to connect with families, allows her to capture images that are a true reflection of the families she photographs.  She is also the master dog whisperer, and loves to include the families’ pet in her session!

Tell us a little bit about you and your studio!
We operate out of our studio in Gordon, on Sydney’s North Shore and photograph families with kids from newborn to teenagers. We are a husband and wife team and have an amazing team of 3 staff who support us. We photograph around 700 sessions a year and focus on providing an amazing experience for our families so they return to us again and again as their family grow.

What is your best advice for new photographers?
You need to understand that as much as you love taking photos, that running a photography business is the same as running any other business. You need to focus not just on taking great photos, but more especially on the business side if you want to be successful over the long term.

What is your favourite Seldex product and why?
We love Boutique Books. They are one of our most popular items as clients love that they can have all the images from their session in them. We love them as a business as we find that clients that purchase an album are a lot more likely to become a repeat client.
